Spectris, a London-based supplier of high-tech instruments, has agreed to buy SciAps, a US-based provider of handheld instruments for materials analysis, for up to USD260 million. The acquisition includes a USD200 million upfront cost and a deferred payment of up to USD60 million. SciAps instruments are used in industries such as mining, metal recycling, battery materials, and food and agriculture.
