Kaipara District Council has halted further investigations into a waste-to-energy plant, deeming it a responsibility of the private sector. Previously, the council had considered collaborating with other councils and stakeholders on waste-to-energy plant options. If private businesses express interest in the future, the council will have a regulatory role.
