Two horses were hit and killed by vehicles on the 5 Freeway in Sylmar, California on July 2, with a third horse rescued by good Samaritans. The California Highway Patrol received calls about the horses running in traffic lanes, and by the time officers arrived, two horses had been struck and killed. A third horse was safely guided to the freeway shoulder by the good Samaritans.
