Google is reportedly switching to Qualcomm's 3D Sonic Gen 2 ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for its upcoming Pixel 9, improving on the optical in-display scanner that was prone to issues. The ultrasonic scanner, also used in Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra, creates a detailed scan for enhanced security. The Pixel 9 series is set to debut at Google's 'Made By Google' event on August 13, featuring the upgraded fingerprint scanner as a key feature in all variants except the Fold.
