Alabama's Education Department experiences a data breach attempt on June 17, potentially affecting student and employee data.
Alabama's Education Department reported a data breach during a hacking attempt on June 17, which was halted before complete access to servers was gained. State Superintendent Eric Mackey said there's a possibility that student and employee data might have been compromised, and urged people to monitor their credit. The department is working with local and federal law enforcement, the Alabama Attorney General's office, the Alabama Office of Information Technology, and an independent contractor to determine if any data was compromised.
