12-year-old Wade Merschat broke the state record for the largest largescale sucker fish caught in Montana, weighing 6.72 pounds and measuring 25.25 inches. Merschat caught the fish from Noxon Reservoir in Sanders County on June 19, surpassing the previous record set in 2008. The Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks verified the catch and issued Merschat his state record certificate on July 1.
