40-year-old Olathe man Brian Thode charged with first-degree murder and animal cruelty in connection with 72-year-old Nancy Thode's death, also accused of killing a cat and a bird.

40-year-old Olathe man Brian Christopher Thode has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of animal cruelty in connection with the death of 72-year-old Nancy Thode, found unresponsive with "significant injuries" in a residence on East Oakview Street on June 29. According to court documents, Thode is also accused of intentionally killing a cat and a bird. Thode is set to make his first court appearance on June 30.
