Marketa Vondrousova, the defending women's Wimbledon champ, has become the first to lose in the first round since 1994. She was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. Vondrousova, who was the first unseeded woman to win the title at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament, now holds the unwanted record of being the first defending champion to exit in the first round since Steffi Graf in 1994.
