Wigan council approves another HMO property amid concerns over parking, waste, and potential saturation.

Wigan council has approved another Housing with Multiple Occupancies (HMO) property, despite concerns raised by the council leader and local residents over parking and waste bin storage. This development follows a protest over the conversion of a pub into a 15-bed HMO in the Scholes area, with locals citing concerns over drug, crime, and anti-social behavior linked to HMOs. Wigan currently has 183 licensed HMOs with five or more tenants sharing facilities, leading some to believe the town is reaching "saturation point."
