South Auckland schools, as part of the Mana Kidz scheme, are combating rising strep throat infections linked to high rheumatic fever cases. For seven years, Clendon Park School has had health professionals on-site, conducting 1400 swabs last year with 157 positive results. The initiative led by the National Hauora Coalition and Te Aka Whai Ora targets 88 primary and intermediate schools, empowering communities.
