The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired veteran right-hander Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays in an attempt to bolster their struggling starting rotation. The Brewers sent minor league infielder Gregory Barrios to Tampa Bay in exchange for Civale, designating right-hander Taylor Clarke for assignment to make room for him on the 40-man roster. Civale, 29, has a 2-6 record and a 5.07 ERA this season for the Rays, but has previously demonstrated success with the Cleveland Guardians in 2023, with a 5-2 record and a 2.34 ERA.
