GM pays $146M penalty, forfeits emissions credits for 6M vehicles emitting more pollution than reported.

General Motors (GM) will pay a $146 million penalty and forfeit emissions credits to settle allegations that nearly 6 million of its vehicles emitted more pollution than reported. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that certain 2012-2018 model year GM vehicles, including around 4.6 million full-size pickup and sport-utility vehicles and 1.3 million mid-size SUVs, emitted more than 10% higher carbon dioxide on average than initially claimed in the company's compliance reports.
