Bihar government challenges Patna High Court's ruling on 65% reservation increase in Bihar.
The Bihar government has challenged the Patna High Court's decision to strike down the law increasing reservation from 50% to 65% for Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes in the state. The quota hike was introduced in jobs and educational institutions in Bihar, but the Patna High Court ruled that the amendments violated the equality clause under Articles 14, 15, and 16 of the Indian Constitution. The Bihar government has now moved the Supreme Court to challenge this ruling.
