Australia's Senate Committee has called for the breakup of the country's corporate watchdog, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), amid allegations of a too-broad remit. The committee released a report with 11 recommendations, including splitting ASIC into separate entities that focus on financial services firms and other companies. The Senate called for whistleblowers to receive compensation, and Treasurer Jim Chalmers is expected to examine the report.
