Sweden allows grandparents to receive up to 90 days of paid parental leave for a child's first year.

Sweden has introduced a new law allowing grandparents to receive paid parental leave for up to three months of a child's first year. This law, approved by the Swedish parliament in December, enables parents to transfer some of their generous parental leave allowance to the child's grandparents, with a maximum of 45 days for a parent couple and 90 days for a single parent. This move is part of Sweden's social welfare system that offers 480 days of parental leave per child, with 390 days based on full income and the remaining 90 days at a fixed amount.
