Publix, a $57B supermarket chain, plans to open a new 48,387 sq ft store in Independence, KY, at the junction of Harris Pike and Madison Pike, employing around 140 people. The company announced initial zoning approval for a store along U.S. 42 Highway in Florence, and in April leased a new store in Cold Spring. Publix entered the Kentucky market in 2021, competing with Kroger, Walmart, and Meijer.
