The blast occurred at a ground-floor building in Torbali district at 2:43 p.m. local time. Izmir Governor Suleyman Elban reported that the explosion damaged 11 buildings in the vicinity. As a precautionary measure, the gas supply was cut off, and the area was evacuated. An investigation into the explosion, coordinated by two public prosecutors, has been launched.
