Major tech platforms, including Meta, TikTok, and Snapchat, will not be forced to participate in the federal government's $6.5 million age assurance trial. The trial, funded in the latest budget, will rely on the "goodwill" of platforms to test new technology. Separately, the online regulator, eSafety Commissioner, will require tech companies to develop codes to prevent children from viewing online pornography and harmful content.
