Kentucky opens cannabis license applications for medical marijuana sales, processing, and growth.

Kentucky has opened applications for cannabis licenses, enabling businesses to apply for permits to sell, process, or grow medical marijuana. The program, launched by a bipartisan House Bill 829, offers 48 dispensary licenses, 10 for processors, and 16 for cultivators through a lottery system. Applications must be submitted by August 31, with winners announced in October. Medical cannabis is set to become legal in Kentucky in 2025 for patients with qualifying illnesses.
