13-year-old boy shot and killed by police in Utica, NY after fleeing during a police stop while pointing a replica gun. The incident occurred on June 28th when officers stopped two youths. One of them took off running and allegedly pointed what appeared to be a handgun at the officers, prompting one of them to fire a single shot. The boy was taken to Wynn Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police later recovered a replica GLOCK 17 handgun from the scene. The officer involved and the deceased teen's identity have not been released. The department plans to release a report and full body camera footage in the coming days. The investigation is being led by the state attorney general's office, and they will also conduct their own internal investigation.
