The Scottish Greens want the next UK government to ensure train travel is cheaper than flying to reduce emissions. They propose using aviation taxation, including a flyer levy, to subsidise rail tickets on certain routes, and removing tax breaks on fuel. Party co-leader Lorna Slater believes that making trains cheaper than flying will incentivize cleaner, greener choices and should be a priority for the next government.
