Eddie Murphy criticized David Spade's 1995 "racist" joke about him following "Vampire in Brooklyn" failure.
Eddie Murphy criticized former "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) cast member David Spade for a "racist" joke about him in 1995, following the failure of his film "Vampire in Brooklyn." Murphy told the New York Times that he felt the joke was "personal" and something he would never forget, even if he has forgiven it. Spade later wrote in his 2015 memoir, "Almost Interesting," that he understood Murphy's point of view and felt bad about his "stupid joke."
