Ontario SIU clears officer in fentanyl consumption case involving arrested 54-year-old man.

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has cleared a Sault Ste. Marie police officer of any criminal charges, following an early March medical incident at the police station involving a 54-year-old man arrested on an outstanding warrant. The man consumed an unknown amount of fentanyl, was treated with Narcan, and later discharged from the hospital. SIU Director Joseph Martino found no grounds to believe the officer committed a criminal offense in relation to the man's medical crisis.
