Indonesia's temporary National Data Center (PDN) was hit by a ransomware attack using Brain Cipher, a new variant of the LockBit 3.0 ransomware, in June, causing disruptions to hundreds of services. Only five of 282 affected government agencies have restored their data, with the government refusing to pay the $8m ransom demanded. Indonesian President Joko Widodo has ordered an audit of government data centers, and Communications and Information Minister Budi Arie Setiadi faces calls to resign due to the cyberattack's impacts.
