Macau and Hong Kong raise duty-free shopping allowance for mainland Chinese visitors to RMB15,000 from July 1, as part of Beijing's economic stimulus efforts.
Macau and Hong Kong's duty-free shopping allowance for mainland Chinese visitors will rise from RMB5,000 to RMB15,000 per trip, starting July 1, as part of Beijing's efforts to stimulate the economies of the two special administrative regions. The Macao Government Tourism Office believes the change will increase mainland visitors' desire to visit and spend money in Macau, helping drive the city's tourism market. Additionally, non-Chinese residents in Macau and Hong Kong will be able to obtain a five-year multiple-entry permit to enter mainland China starting July 10, allowing for up to 90 days per visit.
