Japan successfully launched its new H3 rocket on July 1, carrying the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-4 (ALOS-4) from the Tanegashima Space Center. The ALOS-4 is tasked primarily with Earth observation and data collection for disaster response and mapmaking, and is also capable of monitoring military activity with an infrared sensor developed by the Defense Ministry.
