Anti-noise advocacy group Quiet Communities sues EPA for not regulating loud sounds in everyday life. If successful, EPA must enforce the Noise Control Act, protecting public health and environment from noise pollution. The federal effort to control noise began in 1972 with the establishment of the Office of Noise Abatement and Control, which studied noise and implemented regulations.
