22-year-old actress Sydney Martin landed her dream role as Betsy Swain, daughter of DS Lisa Swain, in Coronation Street after working six days a week at Tesco. She auditioned for smaller roles before securing the series regular part. Her character Betsy, a "cocky but smart cookie," will be involved in the storyline of Lauren's disappearance, blackmailing villain Joel Deering. Sydney praises her co-star Vicky Myers for her support.
