Washington enacts a law punishing "stealthing" and expands its scope to include other sexual protective devices.

Washington will become the third US state to punish "stealthing", the act of removing or tampering with a sexually protective device without consent during intercourse. The new law expands on existing legislation in California and Maine by including dental dams, spermicides, and other devices used to prevent pregnancy and disease. Stealthing is also considered a form of rape in Germany and Canada. The new law aims to provide a pathway to justice for survivors of sexual assault.
