US House approves $500m military aid for Taiwan in 2025 appropriations bill.

The US House of Representatives approved a fiscal year 2025 appropriations bill that includes $500m military aid for Taiwan. The legislation, passed 212-200 in the Republican-led House, stipulates providing no less than $500m in foreign military financing to enhance deterrence across the Taiwan Strait, and offering Taipei up to $2bn in loans & loan guarantees for the same purpose. Funding is available through the US' Foreign Military Financing Program.
