Toronto Maple Leafs acquire defenceman Chris Tanev's negotiating rights from Dallas Stars for a 2026 seventh-round pick and forward Max Ellis's expiring contract. Tanev, 34, is reportedly seeking a deal between 5-8 years, with Toronto's max at 7 years. The Leafs also target Nikita Zadorov and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Tanev finished last season with Stars, after coming from Calgary Flames. He has 33 goals and 190 points in 782 career games.
