Nigerian civil society group SERAP gives CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso a 7-day deadline to explain the fate of over N100bn in "dirty and bad notes" and other large sums.

Nigerian civil society group SERAP has given Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Olayemi Cardoso a 7-day deadline to explain the fate of over N100bn ($256m) in "dirty and bad notes" and other large sums awaiting examination. SERAP also wants Cardoso to disclose N7.2bn budgeted for CBN Dutse branch in 2010 and N4.8bn for Abeokuta branch in 2009, as well as publish names of contractors who failed to complete projects. If CBN fails to respond, SERAP threatens legal action.
