30 June, NIA raids Tamil Nadu locations for Hizb-ut-Tahrir case related to Facebook posts inciting communal discord.

On June 30, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 10 locations across Tamil Nadu in connection with the Hizb-ut-Tahrir case. The agency had previously arrested an individual in 2021 in relation to the Madurai Hizb-ut-Tahrir case. The case was initially registered under various charges of the Indian Penal Code and 13(1)(b) of Unlawful Activities(Prevention) Act, 1967, at Thideer Nagar police station in Madurai city. The charges stem from posts Mohammed Iqbal uploaded on his Facebook account, which denigrated a specific community and incited communal discord among different religions, posing a threat to public order.
