Karnataka Food Safety Department cracks down on shawarma-selling hotels/restaurants due to food poisoning complaints; 9/17 samples found safe.

Karnataka Food Safety Department has cracked down on hotels and restaurants selling shawarma across the state after receiving complaints about food poisoning. Out of 17 shawarma samples collected from 10 districts, only nine were found to be safe for human consumption. The rest had traces of yeast and bacteria due to unhygienic conditions, especially lack of cleanliness during preparation and prolonged storage of the meat.
