Greater Sudbury's development charge rates will change on July 1, as city council approved new rates following a development charge background study. These charges support new municipal infrastructure and services for new developments, including water and wastewater systems, roads, transit, fire and police facilities. The city collects one-time fees from developers or property owners at the building permit stage to ensure growth pays for itself.
