Auckland's North Shore Hospital's Tōtara Haumaru surgical building, delayed due to staff shortages, has officially opened. The $317 million facility, opening in stages, aims to perform 2000 elective procedures in its first year, addressing the growing wait lists for elective surgery and helping to reduce patient wait times. The building has 150 beds, surgical theatres, and four endoscopy suites, eventually having capacity for 8000 surgeries annually.
