79-year-old Kinky Friedman, country music star, satirist, and politician, passed away after a battle with Parkinson's disease.

Country music star, satirist, and novelist Kinky Friedman, known for his irreverent humor and politically-charged songs, has died at the age of 79. Friedman, who performed with the band Texas Jewboys and toured with Bob Dylan, also engaged in politics, running for Texas governor in 2006. He passed away at his family's ranch in Texas Hill Country, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.
