US May consumer price inflation in line with estimates, core PCE price index rises 0.1%, annual rates slow to 2.6%.

In May, US consumer price inflation readings were in line with economists' estimates. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index remained unchanged, while the core PCE price index, excluding food and energy prices, rose 0.1%, following an upwardly revised 0.3% increase in April. The annual rates of growth for both PCE and core PCE price indexes slowed to 2.6%.
