Panama's incoming President, José Raúl Mulino, vows to close the Darien Gap, a treacherous migration route from South America to the U.S., during his campaign. The jungle-covered corridor has seen over half a million people cross last year and is expected to see 186,000 migrants by year-end. Mulino plans to discuss the issue with a U.S. delegation, including Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, during his inauguration.
