Missouri Governor Mike Parson vetoed a $2.5m school safety grant for gun detection technology.
Missouri Governor Mike Parson vetoed a $2.5 million grant program for public schools, rejecting a school safety initiative that would have used video surveillance software to detect guns. This marks the second time in two months that a governor has rejected implementing gun-detection technology in schools, following Kansas Governor Laura Kelly's rejection of a $5 million appropriation for a similar program. Both states' budget bills were supported by ZeroEyes, a technology firm that uses surveillance cameras and AI to spot people carrying guns and alert school administrators and law enforcement officials.
