Dr. Hoau-Yan Wang, a City College of New York professor, has been charged with fraud for allegedly falsifying data to obtain $16 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Wang's studies supported research into a diagnostic test for Alzheimer's disease and simufilam, a drug in advanced clinical trials by pharmaceutical company Cassava Sciences. The NIH awarded the funds to Wang for early-stage drug development in collaboration with Cassava Sciences.
