14-year-old Indigenous girl's unlawful arrest by Western Australia police criticized by Corruption and Crime Commission.

The Corruption and Crime Commission in Western Australia has criticized the police force for its handling of the arrest of a 14-year-old Indigenous girl in 2022, calling it "unlawful, unreasonable, oppressive and unjust." The girl was walking home from a friend's house at night when officers in an unmarked car arrested her. The Commission said it had concerns about the quality and outcomes of WA Police internal investigations into the arrest, taking three investigations to take action against the officers involved.
