44-year-old Glasgow subway cars end service, replaced by wheelchair-accessible modern ones in £288m upgrade program.

Glasgow's 44-year-old subway cars are ending their service as the city phases out the old trains and introduces new wheelchair-accessible modern ones. The £288m upgrade program includes platform doors and driverless trains. The old legacy fleet, introduced in 1980, completed 2.6 million miles each in passenger service. One train has been selected for preservation in the Glasgow Transport Museum.
