68-year-old Fred Floyd, a Danville resident, died after a tubing incident in the Dan River on Thursday evening. Floyd went out of sight while tubing with others and was found unconscious in the water. Police and EMS responded at 6:05 pm, but he was pronounced dead shortly after. The Danville Police Department is investigating the incident, and Floyd's body will be sent to Roanoke for an autopsy.
