USC study links early-life air pollution exposure to adult bronchitis symptoms persistence.

A study by the University of Southern California (USC) has revealed that early-life exposure to air pollution may have a direct effect on lung health later in life. The research, published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Clinical Care Medicine, showed that the connection between childhood air pollution exposure and adult bronchitis symptoms persisted even when researchers adjusted for asthma or bronchitis symptoms early in life. The study, which included 1,308 Children's Health Study participants, highlights the need for pollution reduction efforts to protect long-term respiratory health.
