Philippines to import up to 200,000 metric tons of refined sugar by September for supply assurance and price control.

The Philippines plans to import up to 200,000 metric tons of refined sugar by September, according to Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel. The move aims to ensure ample supply and prevent price spikes during the off-milling season when sugar stocks decrease. The Sugar Regulatory Administration will finalize a sugar order in July, and the importation program is part of the current crop year's Sugar Order (SO) 2.
