Maharashtra's budget proposes a state Value-Added Tax (VAT) cut, reducing petrol prices by 65 paise and diesel prices by Rs 2.60 in the Mumbai region. The tax slash, announced by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, will cost the state exchequer Rs 200 crore and takes effect from July 1 after the state legislative assembly and council approve the budget. The decision aims to provide relief to citizens and support the industry and trade.
