Joanna Paul-Robie, a respected NZ broadcaster, revealed her terminal cancer diagnosis during Matariki celebrations after receiving the Icon Award at Ngā Tohu Toa Awards. The former TV3 news presenter and Māori Television manager expressed gratitude for the award and shared her positive feelings during the ceremony, despite her illness. Paul-Robie worked to combine her Māori heritage with her career in broadcasting throughout her life.
