EFF Secretary-General Dlamini sentenced to 18 months suspended prison for assaulting a police officer during 2019 State of the Nation Address.

EFF Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for five years, for assaulting a police officer during the 2019 State of the Nation Address in Parliament. Dlamini was also fined R6000 or sentenced to three months in prison for malicious damage to property. The Cape Town Regional Court's sentencing comes after considering the context of the incident, where Dlamini claimed he acted believing EFF leader Julius Malema was under threat of attack.
