Connecticut firefighters sue DuPont, 3M, Honeywell, and others for toxic "forever chemicals" contamination in protective gear linked to cancer.

Connecticut firefighters are suing DuPont, 3M, Honeywell and 16 other companies, claiming their protective gear was contaminated with toxic "forever chemicals" linked to cancer. The lawsuit, filed in New Haven federal court, alleges that firefighters' jackets, pants and other turnout gear leeched per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) into their bodies through skin contact, ingestion and inhalation. The Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut, five other unions and individual firefighters are seeking federal class action status to represent all Connecticut firefighters.
